About this Position

Assistant Professor of Political Science

The Department of Political Science at Oklahoma State University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Law and Politics starting August 2027.

Responsibilities:

Teaching responsibilities will be on a 2-2 load and consist of introductory, upper-level undergraduate courses, as well as graduate seminars offered either in person or online. The successful candidate will teach courses contributing to our Pre-Law option within the Political Science major and the Law and Legal Studies minor. We are also highly interested in candidates able to teach introduction to American Government.  A Ph.D. in Political Science is required at the time of appointment. Candidates with a J.D. degree and a license to practice law in the United States are particularly encouraged to apply.

The Department of Political Science is housed within the College of Arts and Sciences and offers B.S. and B.A. degrees, with degree options in campaigning, global politics, pre-law, and public policy. It also offers M.A. degrees in Politics and Policy Studies, as well as Peace, Conflict, and Security Studies.

Required Qualifications

• PhD in Political Science; candidates who are ABD will be expected to finish their degree requirements before the Fall 2027 semester.
• Evidence of high-quality research with a trajectory of building a national profile.
• Evidence of successful college or university-level teaching and mentorship.
• Demonstrated ability to effectively mentor and collaborate with students and colleagues.
